Insider Stories

I received this from a reader some time ago (sorry for the delay!) and thought it worth posting:

I have worked in timeshare sales for a few companies down under and have been a timeshare owner for around 15 years and have served on the boards of a number of resorts.

The average person knows little about the timeshare market. Little facts like more than 50% of the cost of buying a share from the developer goes to paying the sales staff or that timeshare is covered by the Managed Investments Act so companies reselling timeshare have to be licensed securities dealers go unnoticed so the crooks can get away with murder.

You might not know that ACCOR pays up to 17% commission direct to the sales staff from each week sold. Trendwest operate on a similar basis, although they wouldn’t hire me because I knew too much about the product.

Yep, that explains the price differential for the resale market on eBay!

Thanks for your tips!
